  • Pedal Pal Stereo

Utilities & PSU pedal pal stereo / fx pedal integration module / 8 HP ⇣ Enhance your creative palette by seamlessly integrating your favorite guitar FX pedals into the realm of Eurorack modular. Take command over the amount and tone of the signal sent to your pedal and manipulate the expression pedal input using CV. To double the excitement, this module can handle stereo signals! 1/3 key features Stereo FX-Pedal Integration Expression Input CV Send CV Send and Return Level Controls Send Tone EQ Dry/Wet Control TRS Connections to FX Pedal Use it with Line or Modular Levels Boost Dry and/or Wet Signals with a max. Gain of +20 dB Phase Inversion Switch Skiff friendly Wrong polarity protection specs & downloads width: 8 HP depth: 30 mm power: 59 mA @ +12V / 43 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual Connect a stereo or mono signal to the IN sockets (a mono signal to IN L is normalized to IN R), and retrieve the output signal from the OUT jacks. Link your FX pedal's inputs to the SEND output using a TRS audio cable, and connect the FX pedal's output to the RTRN return socket with another TRS audio cable. Fine-tune the blend of dry and wet signals with the central DRY WET knob. The level gain of the dry and the wet signal can be adjusted independently via trimmers on the back of the module. Rotate SEND to the right to increase the audio level sent to the pedal's input. The attenuator beneath the SEND CV jack controls the maximum send signal level, so remember to turn it to the right to activate the SEND jack. Increase the RETURN knob to control the effect signal's level returning from the FX pedal. Be cautious as the send signal can potentially overload the FX pedal's input, so adjust the send amount with care. Both the SEND and RETURN controls provide precise control over the signals sent to and from the effects unit for clean or slightly overdriven signals. The ST Modular logo LEDs indicate whether a signal is being sent from or returned to the module. Turn the TONE knob to the right to emphasize high frequencies or to the left for low frequencies in the SEND signal. Keep it in the center position to have no further effect. Activate the PHASE button to align the audio return signal with the dry input signal if your effects pedal reverses its phase. You may need to make further adjustments to the send and return settings afterwards. The real fun begins when you modulate the amount of audio sent to the FX pedal. Simply introduce a CV signal into the SEND CV input and adjust its level with the attenuator. Furthermore, you can also control the pedal's EXPRESSION input using CV. Connect a TRS audio cable to the EXPR I/O, and the voltage provided by the pedal will be attenuated with the EXPR knob and send back to the pedal, allowing you to manually control the expression parameters. Alternatively, you can patch modular control voltage into the EXP CV input to control the expression parameters of your FX unit, with the EXPR knob acting as an attenuator. The LED indicates when voltage is being forwarded to the pedal. Please ensure you check your FX pedals' specifications before using PEDAL PAL STEREO. Verify whether the pedal supplies its expression voltage on the tip or ring of the EXPR TRS cable and the accepted voltage level (most commonly 3V or 5V). Adjust the corresponding jumpers on the back of the module accordingly. In the video example below, I'm using an EarthQuaker Devices Avalanche Run Delay and Reverb pedal, which provides 3V on the ring of the TRS expression cable. This pedal is particularly well-suited for PEDAL PAL STEREO, as it allows for quick selection of the expression voltage destination, such as reverb amount, delay time, and more. For convenient parameter adjustments, particularly during live performances, potentiometers are positioned on the lower side, ensuring easy access when the module is mounted in the bottom row of a tabletop case. If you are looking for a smaller and simpler mono version, please check out the predecessor PEDAL PAL ! • Mia

Mixer & VCA mia / 2x2 channel mixer with fader / 5 HP & 28 HP ⇣ MIA is a fairly simple, but very handy 2x2 channel mixer with an optional fader output. 1/6 key features 2x2 Channel Mixer Volume Control for each Channel 2 Channel Fader Fader Volume Wrong polarity protection Skiff friendly specs & downloads width: 5 HP & 28 HP depth: 25 mm power: 35 mA @ +12V / 25 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual CH1 & CH2 have two input jacks with VOLUME control potentiometers each. The signals inserted here will be mixed and supplied at the CH1 & CH2 outputs. Simultaneously the signal will be routed to the FADER. The summed signal of channel CH1 & CH2 will be available at the FADE output. Using the Fade potentiometer you may mix the two channels to taste. The overall FADE volume may be adjusted using the FADE VOL potentiometer. If there is a cable plugged into the IN A or IN B jack, the connection of the mixer channels to the FADER is interrupted. Thus you can mix 4 sound sources and fade two additional signals at the same time. Originally this mixer was designed to mix several VCO waveforms with the ability to route each of the mixed signal (from CH1 OUT & CH2 OUT) to external modules, such as effects and filters, and then again mix the externally proccessed signals (using IN A & IN B) to one single output (FADE out) via the fade circuitry. In some cases it might even serve as a stereo mixer. This module is available in 3U and 1U! prev Up next

  • Duck

Mixer & VCA duck / duck ing module / 4 HP ⇣ If you ever have an issue with an overcrowded and muddy mix or you just want to achieve that „sidechaining-sound“, DUCK will bail you out without any signal compression. 1/3 key features Duck ing/Sidechaining Module Amount Control Duck ing Envelope Controls CV Input Wrong polarity protection specs & downloads width: 4 HP depth: 40 mm power: 35 mA @ +12V / 25 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual DUCK is a duck ing or sidechaining module that reduces the level of an audio signal when a CV GATE signal is applied. Trigger CV will work, but then you won´t be able to create slow duck ings. The module has four potentiometers that control the way the signals is „ duck ed“: AMOUNT sets the overall effect of level reduction. Fully counter-clockwise the level will be released to a maximum amount possible. Fully clockwise there is no level reduction at all. This lets you smoothly fade out the duck ing effect which is very useful in live situations. It also give you control over how much of the inserted signal should be reduced in level. HOLD determines the length of level reduction when the gate signal at the GATE input jack is high. If HOLD is turned to the left you will have a rather „plucky“ type of level reduction. RISE sets the amount of fade-in that‘s applied to level reduction. The more you turn RISE to the right, the slower duck ing is introduced, when gate is high. You can create some really slow fade outs with large rise values. The potentiometer is pretty sensitive here, leave it fully counter-clockwise to have short duck ings. FALL sets the mount of time the signal needs to fully recover from level reduction. In conjunction with RISE you may create some very slow fade-in and fade-outs with these controls. Obviously you can also set both to a very quick and responsive level reduction, especially if you are using duck ing together with a kick drum. Two LEDs indicate the signal level (left LED) and the level of signal reduction (right LED). Additionally you may control level reduction via CV. Any positive signal patched into the CV input will reduce the level of a signal applied to the IN jack. If you use the CV jack, HOLD, RISE and FALL will have no further effect. prev Up next

  • Zeitreise

Modulation & Random zeitreise / sample & hold, slew limiter and meandering cv generator / 6 HP ⇣ ZEITREISE is about the slow sequence of events that helps to take voltage on a journey through time. Its your perfect tool for creating slow and unpredictable parameter changes via control voltage. 1/2 key features Clock Generator Sample & Hold Slew Limiter 3x Slowly Meandering CV Noise Generator Internal Normalizations Skiff Friendly Wrong Polarity Protection specs & downloads width: 6 HP depth: 30 mm power: 60 mA @ +12V / 45 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual ZEITREISE is the German term for "time travel" and the time in this context is a clock signal that is set using the S&C CLK potentiometer on the top of the module. It´s rate can be as slow as 0.2 Hz ( approximately 12 bpm) and as fast as 21 Hz (approximately 1,236 bpm). This clock signal is sent to the internal Sample & Hold (S&H) circuit. A S&H circuit in modular synthesizers captures and holds voltage samples at specific intervals, usually triggered by an external clock, creating a stepped output that is useful for generating random or sequenced voltages for modulation. With ZEITREISE, any voltage applied to the S&H CV input is sampled, held and output to the S&H OUT socket with each clock pulse received, either externally via the S&H CLK input or, if this input is not patched, via the internal clock generator. You can reduce the voltage applied to the S&H CV input with the corresponding attenuator. The S&H output is forwarded to a slew limiter. A slew limiter smoothes or limits abrupt voltage changes and ensures controlled slew rates of the input signals, resulting in smoother transitions and curved waveforms for modulation and sound shaping. The amount of slew rate that attenuates the voltage changes can be increased by turning the SLEW IN potentiometer to the right. You can also feed external CVs, such as pitch voltages, into ZEITREISE via the SLEW IN socket. This allows you to create a portamento effect for tonal sequences. Below the S&H and slew limiter you will find three meandering CV outputs REISE EINS, REISE ZWEI and REISE DREI that slowly change their voltage levels (+0V to +8V). The voltages come from different stages within the same circuit. Take these voltages from the REISE outputs and reduce their voltage levels with the appropriate attenuators. Please note that the LEDS display the voltage levels before the attenuators to provide better feedback on the status of each REISE output. These voltages are great for slowly controlling external parameters such as sample playback points in samplers, filter cutoff frequencies or timbre and harmonics in oscillators. There is an additional output at the bottom, which supplies either the clock from the S&H CLK input (patched or normalized) or white noise. You can select one of these outputs using a jumper on the back of the module. ZEITREISE QUICK START GUIDE: ZEITREISE_QUICK_START .pdf Download PDF • 566KB prev Up next

  • Stereo Compressor

Effects stereo compressor / feedforward stereo compressor / 6 HP ⇣ STEREO COMPRESSOR is a classic analog feedforward compressor, which takes its sidechain split directly from the input signal. It is based on the THAT4305 Analog Engine® single-chip with integrated Blackmer® VCA. 1/3 key features Analog Compressor Stereo Signal Path THRESHOLD, RATIO and GAIN ON/OFF Switch for Signal Comparison Up to +20dB Make-Up Gain STEREO SUM Compatible Skiff friendly Wrong polarity protection specs & downloads width: 6 HP depth: 28 mm power: 35 mA @ +12V / 26 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual STEREO COMPRESSOR has two independent signal paths in order to process stereo signals. The left input is normalized to the right, if you want to compress mono signals instead. The module has three controls and a switch: THRESHOLD determins the level at which the compressor starts working. This can be set from -40dB to 20dB. RATIO sets how much the compressor turns down the volume when the threshold is reached (INF:1 to 1:1). GAIN regulates the amount of make-up gain (-20dB to +20dB) that is applied to the signal. Additionally there is an ON/OFF switch that makes it easy to compare the dry and compressed audio signal. Please note that if you turn THRESHOLD counter-clock wise to the left, you reduce the threshold from 20dB (fully cw) to -40dB (fully ccw). Hence the compressor starts working earlier. If you turn RATIO counter-clock wise to the left you increase the amount of compression from 1:1 (fully cw, no compression) to INF:1 (fully ccw, infinite compression). So turning the knobs down corresponds to compressing the signal. The pictures below show the knobs in a neutral position where no compression is applied. STEREO COMPRESSOR has a similar design as the STEREO SUM CHANNEL modules. If you want to add some compression to your mix STEREO COMPRESSOR is a perfect addition to your STEREO SUM Mixer. prev Up next

  • Rocinante´s Gate

Filter & EQ rocinante´s gate / simulated low-pass gate with lfo and envelope generator / 10 HP ⇣ Rocinante´s Gate is not a classical low-pass gate (LPG) using vactrols, but goes way beyond that providing an adjustable envelope to control the "gate" through an analog filter. Sending a gate or trigger signal into the GATE INPUT will create these envelope shaped sounds you know from other LPGs. 1/3 key features Low-Pass-Gate based on an Analog Filter Internal Envelope Generator Adjustable Rise, Decay, Length, Fall Stages Internal LFO Gate Level CV Loop Mode Re-Trigger Mode Use the Envelope and LFO with External Modules Skiff Friendly Wrong Polarity Protection specs & downloads width: 10 HP depth: 28 mm power: 54 mA @ +12V / 26 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual The LOWPASS knob adjusts the range of frequencies being affected by the gate. If you turn it fully counter clockwise the whole frequency spectrum will be gated. Turning it clockwise will slowly add low frequencies to the gated singal until the whole spectrum is not affected anymore. ENV AMT sets the amount of how much the internal envelope affects the low-pass gate. RISE sets the time how long it will take the sound to go from silent to the loudest level. Just like the time it takes an LED inside of a vactrol to start lighting to its full potential. DECAY controls how long it takes to go from an initial peak to the "gate-phase" level. The length of this phase is varied by the LENGTH potentiometer. Finally FALL changes the time your sound will need to return to silence after the "gate-phase". Just like the time it takes an LED inside of a vactrol to shut down. RESONANCE sets the amount of filtered audio being fed back into the filter input. It can´t go into self-oscillation, but is able to create very crunchy and juicy overtones when turning clockwise. The internal Trigger Generator is being controlled with TRIG RATE and the RE-TRIG/LOOP SWITCH. Adjust the rate of the trigger and apply the singal to either a re-trigger circuitry that repeats the "gate-phase" as long as a gate signal is being applied or to a loop functionality that will create cycles of gates without an external gate or trigger. The ENV/INV SWITCH enables you to alternatively route an inverted envelope to the low-pass filter. This way you may create "ducking" or "side-chained" sounds. An internal triangle LFO can be routed via the LVL ATT attenuator to vary the amount of envelope that is being passed to the gate. The LFO will be deactivated if you turn the LVL ATT attenuator fully counter-clockwise or if you use an external signal to control the envelope amount by patching a CV signal into LVL CV. In addition to the Audio IN and OUT jacks you may take the signals of the internal envelope and LFO from the ENV OUT and LFO OUT to control external devices. In combination with the loop function Rocinante´s Gate is not only a Low-Pass-Gate, but also an LFO and ADSR Generator. prev Up next

  • Klangmaschine

Oscillator klangmaschine / dual digital fm synthesizer / 16 HP ⇣ KLANGMASCHINE is a powerful tool for creating a wide range of sounds, from simple sine waves to complex and evolving textures. It combines two simple frequency modulated synthesizers to create a very powerful and versatile digital sound source. 1/3 key features 2 Voice FM Synthesizer plus Noise Generator CV over all FM Parameters Tone Control Internal VCA Internal Mixer Individual Outputs Wrong Polarity Protection specs & downloads width: 16 HP depth: 28 mm power: 98 mA @ +12V / 56 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual FREQUENCY MODULATION (FM) SYNTHESIS is a method of sound synthesis that uses the modulation of the frequency of one waveform by another waveform to create complex and evolving timbres. FM synthesis uses a modulator waveform to modulate the frequency of a carrier waveform. The frequency of the modulator is usually in the audio range, while the frequency of the carrier determines the pitch of the resulting sound. On both sides of the module are the parameter controls for the FM voices. The sliding potentiometers control FM AMT, FM FREQUENCY and PITCH. Each parameter can be voltage controlled. Attenuators control the amount of incoming CV. If nothing is connected to the CV inputs, the above CV attenuators change the response curve of the parameter sliders. Above the sliders is a TONE control, which lets you emphasize either low or high harmonics, and a VOLUME control, which affects only the MIX OUT. Connect your pitch CV to the V/OCT to play notes. The left V/OCT input is normalized to the right. In addition to the two synthesizer voices, there is a volume control to add white noise to the MIX OUT. You can either listen to the oscillators individually at the OUT jacks, or tap a mix of all three sound sources at the MIX OUT. If you connect an envelope CV to the VCA CV input, you can control an internal VCA. If no envelope CV is connected to the VCA CV input, the LED lights dimly to indicate that all three voices are being output at the MIX OUT. As the level rises, the LED indicates the volume level. If a patch cord is connected to VCA CV without CV, the LED is off to indicate that no signal is being output. If the VCA is opened via CV, the LED again shows the volume level. In the "Just a Minute - Live Techno" videos shown above I use KLANGMASCHINE for the lead sound. Have a listen! • Cuerly

Mixer & VCA cuerly / 3-channel stereo mixer with cue / 6 HP ⇣ Cuerly is a compact 3-channel stereo mixer with cue functionality, allowing you to pre-listen to signals before sending them to the main mix. It’s the perfect mixer for live performances in a small Eurorack setup. 1/4 key features 3 Stereo-Channels Level Control per Channel Cue Buttons for Pre-Listening Heaphone Output Headphone Level Control Mix to Headphone Control Max. Gain +20dB Wrong polarity protection specs & downloads width: 6 HP depth: 40 mm power: 43 mA @ +12V / 35 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual Cuerly features three stereo channels, each with independent level control. You can connect a stereo signal to any of the three inputs: IN1, IN2, or IN3. The level of each channel is adjusted using the corresponding VOL1, VOL2, and VOL3 knobs. Mono signals can also be processed by patching a cable into the left input, which will automatically normalize the signal to the right channel. The final mix is sent to stereo headphones via the TRS PHONES output. You can control the headphone volume using the VOL HP potentiometer. To preview a signal, simply press the corresponding cue button. The cued signal is removed from the main mix and routed exclusively to the headphone output. The VOL1, VOL2, and VOL3 knobs continue to function as level controls, even when the signal is cued through the headphones. The LEDs serve as level indicators for the cued signal only. For direct comparison, turn the MIX TO HP knob to the right. This routes the main mix to the headphones along with the cued signal, allowing you to compose and patch new sounds while still monitoring the main output - without needing to remove your headphones. You can cue any combination of the three channels. If all three cue buttons are active, no audio will be sent to the main output, and the signal will be routed only to the headphones. Additionally, the cue buttons can function as mute controls for the main mix. Cuerly offers a maximum gain of +20dB, with independent gain adjustment for each of the six inputs. Gain levels can be fine-tuned using the trimmer potentiometers located on the back of the module. Cuerly is designed specifically for live performances, where sounds are improvised and created on the fly. Its compact size makes it the ideal addition to your small performance case.
