  • Hum Protector | ST Modular

hum protector hp200 / hum and noise eliminator / 0 HP ⇣ The HUM PROTECTOR HP200 is probably the most compact stereo hum eliminator on the market. It reliably protects your audio signal from any noise and hum. key features 1x Stereo or 2x Mono Compact Design No Power Required Easy to Solder documents "Finally I have no more USB noise in my setup!" "I have never had such a compact and good noise eliminator." videos description / manual Offering either two mono channels or one stereo channel, the device comes in two variants. The initial version incorporates a more economical and compact SMD audio transformer, whereas the alternative version integrates larger through-hole audio transformer with marginally superior specifications. Despite this distinction, both iterations are recognized for their commendable audio quality, exhibiting no discernible differences. From a technical standpoint, audio transformers serve to electrically isolate connected devices, effectively eliminating noise and hum in the audio signal path. The HP200 functions as a desktop unit, eliminating the need for valuable HP (horizontal pitch) in a Eurorack case. Its versatility extends to modular setups, as well as compatibility with grooveboxes, samplers, and other synthesizers, particularly those powered via USB. To eliminate hum or noise when connecting your synth to a mixer for example, just insert the HUM PROTECTOR between the devices by connecting the synth output to the HUM PROTECTOR input and the HUM PROTECTOR output to the mixer input. This should resolve the issue. You can also utilize it to eliminate noise from an audio interface by connecting it to the interface output and the monitor's input. Will there be a full size jack plug version? Probably not, as the product is designed for Eurorack and USB-controlled devices that typically use 3.5 mm jack plugs. In addition, there are already numerous versions with full-size jack sockets. • Slopes

slopes / sequenced quad slope generator / 12 HP ⇣ SLOPES is a quad slope generator with integrated gate divider. It is a good tool to create organic and moving changes that match the rhythmic pattern of your patches. 1/3 key features Quad Slope Generator 4x AR Envelope Attenuator per CV Output 8 CV Outputs in Total Internal Gate Divider Clock Input Internal Trigger & Modulation 0V to +10V Range specs & downloads width: 12 HP depth: 28 mm power: 75 mA @ +12V / 49 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual It can simultaneously generate 8 control voltages, which are mainly changed with the potentiometers RISE and FALL. The further you turn RISE clockwise, the longer it takes for the slope to reach its maximum voltage. The further you move the FALL slider potentiometer up, the longer it takes for the slope to subsequently reach 0V. Each slope can be triggered with a trigger or gate signal and outputs a voltage from 0 to +10V (inverted outs respectively -10V). If you need lower voltages, an attenuator is available for each slope. Outputs 1 / 2 and 3 / 4 provide a mix of slopes 1 & 2 and 3 & 4, but the mix can be changed by inserting an inverted signal of one slope with the "1 INV" or "3 INV" switch and the SHAPE 1 / 2 and SHAPE 3 / 4 potentiometers, which adds an additional triangle LFO to the two signals. The rate of the LFO can be changed with the RATE knob. In addition, there are inverted outputs for slopes 1 and 3. The RATE knob also changes the rate of an internal gate, which is divided by 2, 4, 8 and 16 and fed to the four slope gate inputs (from left to right). This connection is broken when you patch an external gate or trigger signal into the dedicated GATE input. One LED per slope indicates if a GATE signal is present. To synchronize the slopes to external modules, you can insert a clock or trigger signal into the CLK input. This overrides the internal gate generator and feeds the gate divider to trigger the four edges according to its division. The inserted clock or trigger signal is buffered and passed to the THRU output. The RST/DIR input jack can be used to reset the gate divider or change its direction. The functionality of this socket can be selected by soldering a solder bridge on the bottom side of the board. The slopes can be very short and snappy, but may also last up to 10 seconds. • Boba Fat

boba fat / dual analog drum generator / 14 HP ⇣ At its core, Boba Fat features two oscillators that empower producers to easily craft both earth-shaking sub-basses and delicate, enveloping kicks. BOBA_BACK_NEW.jpg 1/3 key features Analog Drum Generator Designed for Kick- and Bassdrums Two Voices: Soft Mallet and Hard Mallet Each Mallet may be triggered independently Internal LFO with Sync Volume and Boost per Voice Groove CV Input „Vari“ for Hard Mallet Mod CV Input for Soft Mallet specs & downloads width: 14 HP depth: 28 mm power: 95 mA @ +12V / 65 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual BOBA FAT is a dual voice bass- and kick-drum generator. The first voice "soft mallet" generates smooth and warm sounding bass and sub-bass sounds, whereas the second voice "hard mallet" is rather considered to create kick or tom sounds. The eight potentiometers on the left control the soft mallet generator. PITCH controls the frequency, LEVEL the volume and BOOST adds low frequencies turning it clockwise and reduces them turning it counter-clockwise. MOD RATE and MOD ATT control an internal LFO and its attenuation. The LFO will affect the frequency of the soft mallet voice only. Additionally the LFO can by synced to the incoming gate or trigger. TRIG SLEW acts as some kind attack control and reduces transients making it very easy to create very smooth sub-bass drums. DECAY and RELEASE control the duration of the sounds being amplified by an internal VCA. PRESENCE changes the prominence of the sound. The three potentiometers on the very right affect the hard mallet generator. PITCH, LEVEL and BOOST have the same function as for the soft mallet part. PITCH will have a greater effect from 12 to 5 o´clock. Changes from 7 to 12 o´clock are rather subtle, but are set on purpose to add fine nuances with LEVEL and BOOST there. OUT VOL changes the overall loudness of both drums. GATE accepts any gate or trigger signal to activate the generators. A signal at only at GATE will trigger both mallets. If a additional trigger is inserted to GATE S, GATE only triggers soft mallet and GATE S triggers hard mallet separately. This way you can have individual drum tracks for both mallets creating very interesting rhythms. A CV signal at MOD CV will override the internal LFO and CV control soft mallet pitch. It doesn‘t exactly track 1V/oct, but you will be able to play some melodies. A trigger, gate or clock signal at MOD RST lets you reset the internal LFO with an external signal. Any CV signal at VARI will slightly alternate the volume or generate additional triggers for the hard mallet circuit (depending on the incoming voltage). This gives you endless ways of creating fine grooves and interesting rhythms. The circuit was designed to easily go into distortion/clipping to encounter the limits. You may be careful using LEVEL and BOOST controls. Boba Fat definitely needs some fine adjustments in order to find the sweet spots. If you feed the GATE input with a trigger at audio rate you can also use BOBA FAT as a weird sound generator or drone machine. prev Up next

  • Trommelmaschine

trommelmaschine / three-voice hybrid drum synthesizer / 18 HP ⇣ TROMMELMASCHINE is the German name for "drum machine", and it perfectly sums up the essence of such a machine: a versatile three-voice digital and analog drum module that can be used to create a range of kick drums and various percussion sounds. 1/3 key features 3 Voice Drum Generator Digital & Analog Drum Synth plus Noise Two Digital Drum Modes CV Inputs with Attenuators Internal Mixer Individual Outputs Wrong Polarity Protection Firmware based on MI Peaks: Released under cc-by-sa-3.0 License specs & downloads width: 18 HP depth: 28 mm power: 165 mA @ +12V / 72 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual This drum module features a DIGITAL DRUM VOICE (D) with PITCH and TONE control that has two modes: KICK and PERC. Press and hold the MODE switch for one second to switch between the two modes. In KICK mode (LED flashes slowly) the sliders are MOD1 = DECAY, MOD2 = TRANSIENT, MOD3 = PITCH ENV and in PERC mode (LED flashes quickly) MOD1 = COLOR, MOD2 = DECAY and MOD3 = FM AMT. PITCH and MOD can be changed manually or via CV with dedicated attenuators. If nothing is connected to the CV inputs, the MOD CV attenuators change the response curve of the MOD sliders. Turn them to the right to get a linear response and to the left to get a logarithmic response. This facilitates precise adjustment of the slider positions. The ANALOG DRUM (A) voice has DECAY, DRIVE and PENV (pitch envelope) sliders, plus PITCH and LENGTH (pitch envelope length) potentiometers. These can also be controlled via CV. The PITCH CV input tracks 1V/OCT and can be used to play notes. The EMPH input lets you emphasize the signal. This jack can be used as an input to control the internal VCA, e.g. to feed it with an ADSR. The third voice is a NOISE GENERATOR (N) with COLOR control and DECAY slider. The decay of the noise can also be controlled via CV. All voices have individual trigger inputs (D. TRIG is normalized to the other trigger inputs) and individual outputs and are also summed using an internal mixer at the MAIN output. The volume of each channel can be changed with the volume pots. Loudness LEDs indicate when a voice is close to clipping. TROMMELMASCHINE QUICK START GUIDE: TROMMELMASCHINE_QUICK_START .pdf Download PDF • 985KB prev Up next

  • LFOR

lfor / digital lfo and stepped random generator / 4 HP ⇣ Combining a digital Low Frequency Oscillator with a Stepped Random Generator, this module offers three distinct voltage outputs in the form of Pulse, Triangle, and Random waveforms. The LFO functions as both a voltage and trigger source, while the Stepped Random feature can be seamlessly looped for continuous operation. LFOR_BACK.jpg 1/3 key features LFO with 3 Waveforms Triangle, Pulse and Stepped Random LFO Rate potentiometer Voltage Control over Rate LFO Reset Stepped Random lockable to 16 or 8 steps Random Voltages normalized to LFO Rate Pulse can act as Rythm Generator Wrong polarity protection Skiff friendly specs & downloads width: 4 HP depth: 28 mm power: 25 mA @ +12V / 20 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual The LFO provides three voltages in shape of Pulse, Triangle and Random. It can be used as a voltage and trigger source. The frequency of the LFO can be changed using the Rate potentiometer on top. The LED is indicating the current speed. The Rate of the LFO may be voltage controlled using the Rate CV jack. The small potentiometer acts as an attenuator. Additionally the LFO cycle can be reset via a trigger signal at the Reset jack. The Triangle output provides a standard triangle waveform. Random supplies a randomly stepped voltage at LFO rate. This random voltage is normalized to the LFO CV in creating some interesting random voltages on the other outputs. This connection can be interrupted by inserting a patch cable to Rate CV. Using the Random Lock Switch it is possible to lock the random steps to identical patterns of 16 (mid position) or 8 (down position) steps. If the switch is positioned upwards it is completely random. Patching a voltage to RNDM CV will give you CV control of the Random Lock (switch must be in mid position). Any voltage above 3 volts will produce random steps, any voltage below 4 volts will lock the random out to a pattern of 8 steps. Pulse out is not a typical pulse wave you would expect from an LFO. It is rather a rythmical trigger producing one long pulse at the start of the cycle and a short pulse at the end. This way and by the normalized random voltage (if the CV attenuator is turned clockwise), you will have a wide range of random or locked pulses to trigger VCAs or sequencers. A simple AVR-programmer is neccessary to complete the build. Nevertheless it is a very easy build with only 37 parts in total. prev Up next

  • Mia

mia / 2x2 channel mixer with fader / 5 HP & 28 HP ⇣ MIA is a fairly simple, but very handy 2x2 channel mixer with an optional fader output. 1/6 key features 2x2 Channel Mixer Volume Control for each Channel 2 Channel Fader Fader Volume Wrong polarity protection Skiff friendly specs & downloads width: 5 HP & 28 HP depth: 25 mm power: 35 mA @ +12V / 25 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual CH1 & CH2 have two input jacks with VOLUME control potentiometers each. The signals inserted here will be mixed and supplied at the CH1 & CH2 outputs. Simultaneously the signal will be routed to the FADER. The summed signal of channel CH1 & CH2 will be available at the FADE output. Using the Fade potentiometer you may mix the two channels to taste. The overall FADE volume may be adjusted using the FADE VOL potentiometer. If there is a cable plugged into the IN A or IN B jack, the connection of the mixer channels to the FADER is interrupted. Thus you can mix 4 sound sources and fade two additional signals at the same time. Originally this mixer was designed to mix several VCO waveforms with the ability to route each of the mixed signal (from CH1 OUT & CH2 OUT) to external modules, such as effects and filters, and then again mix the externally proccessed signals (using IN A & IN B) to one single output (FADE out) via the fade circuitry. In some cases it might even serve as a stereo mixer. This module is available in 3U and 1U! prev Up next

  • uSum

μ sum / moog cp3 based 3-channel analog mixer with eq & mute switches / 8 HP ⇣ μSUM is the successor of KNEAD and has an improved circuitry and PCB layout. It was inspired by the famous MOOG CP3-Type Mixer. The circuit adds some nice harmonic distortion to the signal with heavy clipping, if the inputs are turned to the maximum. As the mix is bussed passively turning one input up may result in a reduction of the other inputs. Therefore the output cannot exceed any other input´s level providing auto-leveling on high volumes. 1/3 key features CP3 Transistor-Based Analog Mixer 3 Audio Channels 3x EQ 3x Mute Switch 3x Signal LEDs MIX Volume Skiff friendly Wrong polarity protection specs & downloads width: 8 HP depth: 30 mm power: 56 mA @ +12V / 45 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual There are three potentiometers to adjust the LEVEL for each signal. Additionally you may change the frequencies of each channel by turning the EQ knobs. EQ will boost high frequencies turning the knob clockwise and boost low frequencies turning it counter-clockwise. On top you will find MUTE switches for easy sound comparison or live mixing. LEDs will indicate if a signal is passed through. The LED´s brightness can be set with trim potentiometers for each channel. The MIX VOL knob controls the volume of the summed signal being supplied at the OUT Jack. Knead Expander has been omitted on the μSUM Mixer. prev Up next
