Hey!
Just got my Trommelmaschine and I'm really confused with the DMode button.
The manual says 'press for one second to switch between two modes' and then I should have the led either flash slowly or quickly.
For me I get four modes with sub modes (?). But I can't figure out how to get to them and instead land on them randomly.
There are modes with the led static, off and blinking. And not sure if I'm seeing a difference between a fast and slow blinking. When I click quickly the sound changes but led stays the same.
Some of the modes sound great. Others are just scratchy with no change when I move the sliders.
Would be great if someone could enlighten me here as I really enjoy playing the machine when I'm in the right mode.
Cheers, Daniel
Unfortunately I can't upload .hex files here, so I renamed it to tif.
Thanks for trying!
I just had another look and found that Mutable Instruments offers a Vagrant environment for the their toolchain:
Gave that a try and my compile went through!
I guess the Trommelmaschine does not allow audio uploading?
I might get a Avr programmer but yeah: for now I haven't tested this. It's just the original Peaks firmware with the above mentioned change that should change the button usage to toggle FMDRUM to DRUM and back.
Let me know if this works!
Hey Daniel, It uses the Mutable Instruments Peaks algorithms, where you can switch between different audio and CV algorithms. This is the reason why you get scratchy noises at the output when you select a CV mode.
If you don't get the output you want (kick drum or FM drum), just keep pressing the button until you hear a drum sound (assuming external triggers are connected). Then press the button for one second to switch between kick drum and FM drum modes.
I have to admit that it's a strange way to have the other algos there. But firstly, I'm not good enough at programming to remove them, and secondly, I sometimes enjoy using the CV modes, especially in small cases where HP is scarce. It's fun to modulate the analogue drum from the first "voice" (with a CV algo loaded).
You can find out which CV algos are available in the MI Peaks manual. The D.Mode button works in the same way as the function buttons in this manual. Hope this helps. Thanks,
Stefan
It's probably related to this comment in the manual:
"If you press the mode button briefly by mistake and are no longer in on of the drum algorithms, simply press it again briefly (probably three times) until you are back in one the above menioned modes."
Couldn't find anything more though. :-/
