I have an "old" version of SUM which serves me well enough, but does suffer from a bit of noise on the headphone output,. I didn't build it, by the way.
The github folder (https://github.com/Laminim/EURORACK/tree/master/SUM) for this version includes a workaround for the noise, which is simply soldering a couple of caps across a couple of components,
The workaround pdf suggests the use of tantalum caps, which are polarised.
(I was going to attach the pdf but I don't seem to be able to publish this post with it attached)
I think that for the cap across pins 7 & 4 of IC8 should be +ve to pin 4, -ve to pin 7
For the cap between pin 7 of IC7 and +ve of C62, +ve should goto pin 7 and -ve to the +ve pin of C62.
Please excuse me if II'm wildly off here but my brain has turned to custard as I've manage to pick up a dose of c19 this week.
I'm hoping someone can confirm the correct orientation.
thanks very much in advance for any assistance
Hey Clumsy, Connect the positive side of the tantalum capacitor to pin 7 of IC7 and IC8, and the negative side should be connected to ground. Cheers, Stefan
