Hi all!
I recently had a DIY HANS build that arrived with pre-soldered SMD components. I built out the module without issues and everything mostly works as expected, except the resonance is very quiet. At 50% is not quite noticeable audibly or on a scope and at 100%, you can hear it screaming but at 25-50% of the starting volume. Comparing it to the module's demo video, it sounds incredibly different - not nearly as much resonance and at the higher ends much quieter.
I've done a quick pass on the module and didn't see anything that looked damaged or anything of that sorts - any chance someone has ran into similar or is able to point me in a direction in regards to where I might begin to look to fix this (or if this is maybe expected behavior even)?
Hey Eli,
It's hard to say from a distance if this behavior is normal, but based on your description, I’d assume something is off.
The resonance section is intentionally kept simple to save space in this stereo design. I’d recommend starting by reflowing the 50k RESONANCE pot and then double-checking involved parts R19, C9, R31, and C18.
Best,
Stefan
